April 26, 2013

FRISCO, TEXAS (APRIL 26, 2013) - The Frisco RoughRiders dropped the opening game of the series against the Corpus Christi Hooks 4-2 Friday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The loss sent the 'Riders to their first three-game losing streak of the season.

Corpus Christi (12-9) scored first on a solo home run by Domingo Santana to right field in the top of the second, and extended their lead in the fourth with a single by Rene Garcia to bring home George Springer. The Hooks tacked on another two runs on a two-run home run by Erik Castro to make it 4-0 in the seventh.

Frisco (11-10) remained scoreless until the bottom of the seventh. Brett Nicholas hit a double to bring Jared Hoying in from third base for the 'Riders' first run. A rally in the ninth that began with an RBI single by Tomas Telis fell short with runners stranded on first and second base, ending the game.

The Hooks' Carlos Quevedo (1-1) earned the win while Frisco starter Ryan Feierabend (1-2) suffered the loss.  Jason Stoffel was credited with his fifth save.

The RoughRiders play Corpus Christi on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Frisco's Cody Buckel (0-3, 12.00 ERA) will start, facing Bobby Doran (2-0, 2.95 ERA) for the Hooks.
