Kiner-Falefa and Guzman have big days in 6-5 win over Missions
April 27, 2016

FRISCO, TEXAS (April 27, 2016) - The Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, continued their winning ways Wednesday afternoon with a 6-5 win over the San Antonio Missions at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

Riders starter Sam Wolff (4-0) worked five shutout innings to begin the game but was chased by San Antonio (8-11) in the sixth, after the Missions strung together a trio of hits and put up three runs to make it a 4-3 game.

Frisco (14-4) countered with its third and final two-run frame of the day against Missions starter Brandon Morrow (1-1) in the sixth. Alex Burg started the inning with a solo home run and an RBI single from Isiah Kiner-Falefa brought in the other run to make it 6-3. Kiner-Falefa finished 3-for-4 on the day with two RBI singles, the other coming in a two-run third inning that put the Riders up, 2-0.

In addition to Kiner-Falefa, Ronald Guzman also had a multi-hit game for Frisco, going 2-for-4 at the plate, including a two-run single in the fifth inning that put the Riders up 4-0. The big hit followed a leaping catch at first base to end the top of the fifth that saved at least one run.

San Antonio added two more runs on in the eighth on Gabriel Quintana's two-run home run against reliever Matt Bush to close within 6-5, but Bush settled in and earned his third save of the season. In two innings of work, Bush got all six of his outs on strikeouts.

Major league rehabber Chris Gimenez continued his assignment with the Riders, going 2-for-3 with an RBI single and was hit by a pitch in seven innings as the starting catcher.

The victory guarantees the Riders a series win over San Antonio, and they'll go for the sweep of the Missions Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. Left-hander Victor Payano (1-0, 3.45 ERA) is scheduled to make the start for the Riders, while San Antonio has scheduled Fabio Castillo (2-2, 3.68 ERA) to make the start.
