RoughRiders and RockHounds postponed

Make-up scheduled for July 22 in Midland
June 18, 2014

MIDLAND, TEXAS (JUNE 18, 2014) - Torrential rains and high-powered winds prompted officials to postpone Wednesday night's contest between the Frisco RoughRiders and Midland RockHounds at Security Bank Ballpark.

The results and statistics from the truncated affair, suspended in the middle of the fourth inning, are unofficial and bear no impact on the Texas League standings.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader in Midland on Tuesday, July 22. Game one of the twin bill will commence at 5:00 p.m. CDT.

Frisco led 3-1 at the fourth inning break when the grounds crew rolled out the tarp. The 'Riders score a pair of runs in the first inning-one of which crossed on a delayed double steal-and another in the fourth on an RBI double by Guilder Rodriguez.

Midland's lone run occurred in the first as well on a groundout by Anthony Aliotti that scored Addison Russell.

High winds and blowing dust remained a constant from first pitch onward, at one point forcing players to cover their mouths. As wind speeds escalated, fans received warning to take shelter in their vehicles in anticipation of 65-mph gusts.

Finally, after the third out in the top of the fourth inning, play ended and a downpour ensued shortly thereafter.

The RoughRiders return to Corpus Christi for the second four-game series with the Hooks in a 12-day span. The teams split the most recent series at Whataburger Field June 11-14. First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. and coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. on www.ridersbaseball.com with the Frisco RoughRiders Pregame Show.

The 'Riders next play at Dr Pepper Ballpark on Wednesday, June 25 against the Arkansas Travelers at 7:05 p.m. For tickets to see the 'Riders in 2014, call 972-731-9200, e-mail [email protected] or visit www.ridersbaseball.com.
