Las Vegas Beats Round Rock 4-3 on Friday Night

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Las Vegas put a run on the board in the first. 3B Max Muncy roped a double off the center field wall. LF Colby Thomas traded places with Muncy on a double to left and the Aviators led 1-0.

In the third, Round Rock RF Kellen Strahm reached on a fielding error. CF Evan Carter smashed a triple for the E-Train’s first hit of the day. Strahm came around and tied it at 1-1.

Aviators 2B Darell Hernaiz got aboard with a single in the fourth. Las Vegas then drew three walks and plated a run to grab a 2-1 advantage.

The Express nabbed their first lead of the night in the fifth. C Tucker Barnhart and Strahm both recorded RBI doubles and Round Rock led 3-2. In the top of the sixth, Las Vegas answered with a two-run homer from Muncy as the Aviators led, 4-3.

Las Vegas held Round Rock to just one hit in the final three frames en route to securing their first win of the series on Friday night.

CARTER COMING ALONG: CF Evan Carter recorded the only multi-hit night for Round Rock, going 2-for-4 with a RBI triple and a single. Carter now has a 15-game on-base streak. In his last eight games, he is 9-for-30 with two doubles, a triple, two homers, five RBI, seven runs scored and five walks.

FESTA’S FIERY START: RHP Matt Festa threw 1.1 innings in relief on Friday night. He surrendered just one hit and three walks with no runs. Festa has now thrown 13.0 total innings without giving up a run which is the longest streak in all of Triple-A. He has struck out 15 batters and walked five.
