Comets Launch Three Home Runs, Defeat Express 9-8

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Oklahoma City RHP Justin Jarvis struck out Round Rock’s first two batters but 1B Justin Foscue and RF Trevor Hauver got aboard via two singles. 3B Cody Freeman then cleared the bases with a double to right, opening with a 2-0 lead in the first.
RF Eddie Rosario responded in the second with his first home run of the season. The 410-foot homer cut the Comets’ deficit in half at 2-1.
After a three-game stint with the Rangers, SS Jonathan Ornelas hit a sacrifice fly to center in his first game back for Round Rock. Ornelas sent 2B Alan Trejo home, extending the Express lead to 3-1 in the second.
The Comets opened the third with a pair of walks. SS Alex Freeland then hit a sacrifice fly to center field making it 3-2.
The E-Train plated two runs in the bottom half of the sixth after four consecutive singles and a sacrifice fly from LF Alex De Goti.
DH Blaine Crim led off the seventh with a single. Walks for C Tucker Barnhart and Foscue loaded the bases for the Express. Trejo’s base on balls sent Crim home and put the E-Train up 6-2.
Round Rock RHP Dane Acker retired his first two batters faced but Oklahoma City rallied with a two-run single from DH James Outman and a two-run homer from 3B Michael Chavis. The Comets tied the ball game at 6-6 in the eighth.
The E-Train took another lead in the bottom half of the frame on a Foscue single sending De Goti home from second and making it 7-6.
Oklahoma City’s Freeland notched his second RBI of the day with a double in the ninth, as CF Hyeseong Kim came around to score, tying it back up at 7-7. Rosario then launched his second homer of the game, a go-ahead two-run blast extending the Comets lead to 9-7.
CF Evan Carter came in for Strahm after the eighth. He homered in his lone at-bat in the bottom of the ninth. The solo shot would be all for the E-Train, leading to a 9-8 final.
E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:
CRIM OF THE CROP: Round Rock DH Blaine Crim went 1-for-5 with a single and extended his hitting streak to 17 games dating back to the end of 2024.
WHOLE SQUAD: Nine of Round Rock’s ten batters recorded a base-hit on Thursday night. 2B Alan Trejo, 3B Cody Freeman and 1B Justin Foscue each went 2-for-4 and accounted for five of the team’s eight runs.
