Round Rock LHP Reymin Guduan Recalled by Houston

Astros RHP Corbin Martin Optioned to Express in Corresponding Move

SUMMERLIN, Nevada - Welcome back to the bigs, Reymin! The Houston Astros have recalled Round Rock Express LHP Reymin Guduan prior to the team's contest against the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night at T-Mobile Park.

In a corresponding roster move, Houston optioned RHP Corbin Martin back to Round Rock. Martin opened the 2019 season with the Express prior to his first career callup to The Show on May 12.

Guduan is heading back to Houston for the second time this season. The lefty pitched in three games with the Astros during his first stint with the club from April 12-24, posting no record with a 6.75 ERA (2 ER/2.2 IP). He struck out three and walked two before returning to the Express.

The Dominican Republic native pitched in 14 games with the Express in 2019, going 1-1 with a solid 2.87 ERA (5 ER/15.2 IP). He has totaled 16 strikeouts to only nine walks at the Triple-A level this season. In his career, Guduan has appeared in 28 games with Houston, all out of the bullpen. He is 0-0 with a 6.95 ERA (17 ER/22.0 IP) in his big league career. Guduan made his major league debut with the Astros on May 31, 2017 at Minnesota. He posted no record with a 2.70 ERA (1 ER/3.1 IP) in three relief appearances with Houston in 2018.

Martin made his major league debut on May 12 against the Texas Rangers, allowing just two runs on three hits in 5.1 dominant innings. The Texas A&M product started five total games with the Astros during his first career stint in the Bigs, going 1-1 with a 5.59 ERA (12 ER/19.1 IP). Martin totaled 19 strikeouts to 12 walks with the Astros, allowing eight home runs. He started last night's Astros win in Seattle, allowing a pair of runs, both on solo home runs, on four total hits in 3.0 innings of work.

With the E-Train, Martin went 1-1 with a miniscule 1.42 ERA (4 ER/25.1 IP) in six games, including five starts, prior to his callup on May 12. He racked up 29 strikeouts to only 12 walks with the Express in his first Triple-A action.

Tuesday's transactions come after a trio of roster moves for the Express on Monday's Pacific Coast League offday. RHP Humberto Castellanos was reassigned to the Class A Quad Cities River Bandits while RHP Gabriel Valdez was added to Round Rock's Injured List. RHP Kent Emanuel was also activated from the team's Temporary Inactive List.

The Express open a three-game series against the Las Vegas Aviators (Oakland Athletics affiliate) on Tuesday night at Las Vegas Ballpark. Round Rock RHP Brandon Bielak (0-0, 4.50) is scheduled to start opposite Las Vegas RHP Tanner Anderson (4-4, 5.72). First pitch is scheduled for 9:05 p.m.
