Akron's Shao-Ching Chiang tossed five shutout innings in his season debut, and Sicnarf Loopstok launched his first Double-A home run, as the RubberDucks defeated the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, 6-3, at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton, New York, Monday night.

Turning Point
The RubberDucks (2-3) collected three consecutive RBI singles in the fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead. Mark Mathias, Taylor Murphy and Daniel Salters all connected off Ponies starter Marcos Molina (0-1).
Mound Presence
Chiang (1-0) scattered three hits over five innings to earn his first win of the season. The right-hander fanned four and walked two. In the fifth, he retired Andrew Ely on a fly ball to left to strand three men on base. Right-hander Mitch Brown came on in the ninth with the RubberDucks up, 6-3, and retired the Ponies in order to notch his first save.
Duck Tales
After Binghamton cut the Akron lead to 4-3 with three runs in the seventh off Leandro Linares, Loopstok crushed a two-run homer with two outs in the ninth to push the lead back to 6-3. It was his first homer of the season. Mathias was 3-4 on the night, including a double in the ninth prior to Loopstok's home run. Murphy was 2-3, with an RBI and a sacrifice bunt.

The Rumble Ponies (3-1) left the bases loaded in the fifth and sixth and left two more on in the seventh…In the sixth, lefty Matt Whitehouse fanned Tim Tebow on three consecutive curve balls to end the inning with the bases loaded…Game time temperature was 43 degrees…Time of game: 2:48…Attendance: 1,022.
