Turning Point

In Game 2, Altoona catcher Jin-De Jhang delivered a key RBI single in the sixth to extend their lead to 2-0. Altoona would capitalize on an Akron error and two wild pitches to push the score to 5-0.

Winging It

Akron all-star Thomas Pannone took the hill in Game 1 and worked 5.1 innings giving up six hits on three runs. Pannone gave up a run in each of the first two innings before settling in to work three scoreless innings. Leading 4-2 in the sixth, Akron turned to their all-star reliever Cameron Hill. Hill proceeded to give up a double to Altoona's Edwin Espinal and then a two-run homer to Jerrick Suiter to tie the game at four a piece. Curve catcher Tomas Morales would then double, scoring Wyatt Mathisen to give Altoona a 6-5 lead. In Game 2, Akron's Nick Pasquale had a solid outing, working five innings. Pasquale's lone mistake was giving up a solo home run to Altoona's Edwin Espinal.
