Summary
Akron's Eric Haase belted a solo homer, and Tyler Krieger followed with an inside-the-parker, in the eighth inning Friday night as the RubberDucks rallied for a 5-3 victory over the Portland Sea Dogs in the opener of a three-game series at Canal Park.

Turning Point
The RubberDucks (31-31) broke a 3-3 tie with a pair of home runs in the eighth inning off Taylor Grover (1-2). For the second straight night, Haase belted a go-ahead homer. His solo shot with two outs gave the Ducks a 4-3 lead. The next hitter, Krieger, ripped a ball to deep center that just eluded the outstretched glove of Danny Mars. As Mars fell to the ground after diving for the ball, Krieger sprinted around the bases and scored standing up with an inside-the-park homer to give Akron a 5-3 lead. It was Haase's 12th of the season and Krieger's fourth.
Winging It
Mitch Brown (1-1) picked up his first Double-A victory by tossing 2.2 innings of relief and allowing just a run on two hits. He absorbed a blown save when he allowed the Sea Dogs (29-33) to tie the game, 3-3, on an RBI single by Mike Olt in the top of the eighth. After the Ducks assumed the lead on the back-to-back dingers by Haase and Krieger, Cameron Hill worked a perfect ninth for his third save overall and his second in as many nights. Lefty Thomas Pannone started for Akron and allowed two runs over 5.1 innings.
Duck Tales
Haase beat the Harrisburg Senators with a two-run shot in the eighth inning on Thursday night. Luigi Rodriguez smacked a two-run homer in the fifth inning off Jacob Dahlstrand to give the RubberDucks a 3-2 lead. Jordan Smith was 1-3 and extended his hit streak to six games. Francisco Mejía was 2-3, with a walk, and is hitting a league-best .368.
