B-Mets Seeking Broadcasting & Media Relations Assistant

The Binghamton Mets are seeking an assistant to aid Tim Heiman, the team's Director of Broadcasting & Media Relations, for the 2014 season.

The Binghamton Mets are the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets. This locally owned franchise has been playing in the Eastern League since their inception in Binghamton, NY in 1992. The B-Mets play a 142-game schedule that stretches from the first weekend of April to the first weekend of September.

Basics:
Job Title: Broadcasting & Media Relations Assistant
Report To: Tim Heiman, Director of Broadcasting & Media Relations
Compensation: $25 per game stipend (home games only)
Start: Mid-March 2014
End: Mid-September 2014

Responsibilities:
Home games ($25/game stipend):
-Broadcast play-by-play for middle three innings
-Conduct interview with player/coach for pre-game show
-Host pre/post-game shows (based on performance)
-Produce daily stat packs
-Write game notes
-Compile/distribute daily lineup
-Write player biographies
-Maintain press box by overseeing distribution of game materials, including game notes, lineups and player biographies
-Distribute box scores following each game
-Write game story
-Update B-Mets website with game story, game notes and other news items
-Aid Director of Broadcasting & Media Relations in other departments (production of media credentials, facilitation of interviews with players, writing press releases etc.)

Road games:
-Write game notes
-Possibility of making one or more road trips with team (based on performance)

Other:
-Tarp pulling

Requirements:
Must be motivated to succeed in a team environment
Must have strong written and verbal skills
Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word, Excel and Publisher
Must have availability to work entire season (April - September)
One season of previous broadcasting or media relations experience with an affiliated Minor League Baseball team preferred
Familiarity with Minor League Baseball's web interfaces, including Private Portal, Homebase and Newsroom a plus
