The League Championship Series are underway, and all four remaining teams boast former Sacramento River Cats.

In the American League, the Houston Astros (No. 1 seed) open their series with the New York Yankees (No. 2 seed) on Wednesday.

Houston has two past Sacramento players. Utility player Maurcio Dubón was a fan-favorite while playing at Sutter Health Park, hitting .329 with 64 runs, 17 doubles, 12 homers, and 40 RBIs in 88 games. Dubón made MLB history this postseason, becoming the first Honduras-born player to appear in a playoff game per Marly Rivera.

Lefty Will Smith, who pitched 5.2 scoreless rehab innings for Sacramento in 2018, is not a part of the Astros' roster.

The most prevalent River Cats alumni remaining in the postseason is Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson. The MVP played 252 games for Sacramento from 2010-2012, totaling 169 runs, 54 doubles, 48 homers, and 182 RBIs.

On the National League side, two Wild Cards face off. The San Diego Padres and right-hander Pierce Johnson, have already begun their series with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Johnson pitched for Sacramento in 2018, posting a 3.57 ERA, four saves, 30 strikeouts, and a 1.10 WHIP in 22.2 innings for the River Cats.

Philadelphia lefty Michael Plassmeyer opened the season in Sacramento’s rotation, and is now one of the Phillies' reserve pitchers.
