Giants closer Mark Melancon to begin rehab assignment with River Cats

Three-time All-Star scheduled to start in Sacramento tomorrow, Sunday, July 30

West Sacramento, CA - Giants closer and three-time All-Star Mark Melancon is scheduled to join the Sacramento River Cats for a rehab assignment tomorrow, Sunday, July 30. Melancon is slated to start tomorrow's game and throw one inning. First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. and gates open at 4 p.m.

Signed this past offseason by the San Francisco Giants, Melancon has appeared in 22 games for the Giants this season. He owns a 1-2 record with a 4.35 ERA and has 11 saves in 15 chances. He last pitched for San Francisco on June 27 before being placed on the disabled list with a right pronator strain. He is expected to make multiple appearances with Sacramento before returning to the Giants.
