McCarthy extends hitting streak to 14 in loss to Tacoma 

Tacoma, Wash. — One bad inning was enough to down right-hander Matt Frisbee (1-1) and the Sacramento River Cats (14-18) in their game two loss at the Tacoma Rainiers (16-15).

Tacoma plated six runs in the second inning, one coming on a solo shot by left-fielder José Marmolejos, and three on a home run by designated hitter Evan White.

Frisbee settled down after the hiccup, and provided vital length for the Sacramento pitching staff, allowing just one hit over the next three frames. He finished the day with six earned runs on six hits and two walks in 5.0 innings.

Rehabbing San Francisco outfielder Jaylin Davis plated Sacramento’s first run with a fourth-inning solo home run. In two games, Davis is 4-for-9 with three runs, three RBIs, two doubles, and two home runs.

Following Davis’ big-fly, first baseman Joe McCarthy extended his hitting streak to a career-high 14 games with an infield single. He later doubled, and scored on an RBI single by designated hitter Justin Bour to make it 7-2 in the seventh inning.

• Tacoma right-hander Darren McCaughan (2-2) struck out six while allowing one run on two hits and two walks.
• Frisbee walked two on Friday, bringing his total to three in 10.0 Triple-A innings. Prior to his promotion, he walked just one batter in 29.0 Double-A innings.
• Tacoma and home plate umpire Lew Williams could not agree on the strike zone. He ejected three Rainiers, including two in the ninth. With one out left in the ballgame, Williams ejected catcher Cal Raleigh and acting manager Tony Arnerich. To get the last out, reserve catcher Luis Torrens moved from first base to behind the plate, Marmolejos went to first base, and Luis Liberato manned left field.
