March 20, 2013

Salem, VA (March 20, 2013) - The Salem Red Sox have announced changes to its ticket pricing system that result in fans being able to enjoy Salem Red Sox baseball for far less than they have paid in previous seasons.  The club has lowered advance purchase prices by an average of 19% while offering further affordability for group purchases of 25 or more tickets.  As a result of these changes the Salem Red Sox will offer the most affordable tickets in the entire Carolina League.

Advance Purchase Prices Reduced by as much as 25%

All tickets purchased online at www.salemsox.com at any time, by phone at 540-389-3333, or in person at the LewisGale Field box office prior to the day of a game will be classified as Advance Purchase Tickets.  Beginning this Friday, March 22nd at 9:00 AM, fans will be able to take advantage of reduced Advanced Purchase prices for single game tickets with three great seating options depending on their preferences:

  1. General Admission tickets are designed for fans looking for the lowest priced option with great flexibility to sit wherever they would like.  In 2013, General Admission Advance Purchase tickets are just $6.00, a reduction of 25% from the 2012 price of $8.00.
  2. Box tickets (formerly Box and Reserved seats) are available for fans looking for an up close and personal view of some of the best prospects in the Boston Red Sox minor league system. In 2013, Box Advance Purchase tickets are just $8.00, 20% less than the 2012 price of $10.00.
  3. Premium tickets (formerly Park View Terrace and Strike Zone Box seats), which come with in-seat service and other amenities, are designed for fans that want the best possible experience the Salem Sox have to offer.  In 2013, Premium Advanced Purchase tickets are just $10.00, a reduction of 9% from the 2012 price of $11.00.

"Salem Red Sox baseball is already one of the most affordable family entertainment options in the Roanoke Valley," said Salem General Manager Todd Stephenson.  "This new simplified, value-oriented approach will provide fans with even more opportunities to save with everyday low pricing. As an added benefit, fans purchasing tickets in advance will avoid the game day ticket lines so they can walk right into the ballpark and begin to enjoy their experience without missing any of the action."

Walk-Up tickets, which are purchased in person at the ballpark on the day of a game, will remain at 2012 price levels of $8.00 and $10.00 for General Admission and Box seats.  Premium tickets will be priced at $12.00 for Walk-Up ticket purchases.

The Salem Red Sox continue to offer the popular 10 Game Flex Plans, which include 10 ticket vouchers for any regular season game throughout the 2013 season.  General Admission and Box seat Flex Plans are priced at the Advance Purchase ticket price of $6.00 and $8.00 per ticket, respectively.  Additionally, fans purchasing a Flex Plan for General Admission tickets will receive their choice of a '47 Brand Salem Red Sox hat (a $20 value) or a $5.00 concession voucher.  Any fan purchasing Box seat Flex Plans will receive both the hat and the $5.00 concession voucher.

Group Tickets Provide Even More Options to Save

The Salem Red Sox have also announced even more opportunities for fans to save at the ballpark with new, more cost-effective Group ticket prices.  Group purchases of 25 to 99 tickets are priced at $5.00 and $7.00 for General Admission and Box tickets, respectively.  In addition, group purchases of 100 or more Box tickets are priced at just $6.00 per ticket, 40% less than the game day purchase price of $10.00.

"We invite all local companies and individuals looking to plan a special event to consider a Salem Red Sox baseball game," continued Stephenson.  "In addition to these incredibly affordable pricing options, group outings at LewisGale Field have the opportunity to enjoy additional unique benefits such as pre-game on field access during batting practice, meet and greets with players, on field and video board recognition, the chance to run the bases after the game, and various menu options for food and beverages."

Changes Result in the Most Affordable Prices in the Carolina League

Overall, the Salem Red Sox have reduced the average price of Advance Purchase Tickets by 19%, the largest price decrease in the club's history.  In addition, these Advance Purchase Ticket prices are lower than prices for comparable seating areas for all of the other clubs within the Carolina League.  See Table 1 for a summary of all of the 2013 ticket prices compared with 2012 prices as well as Figures A and B for a comparison of the 2012 and 2013 ballpark seating charts.

"We think that these reduced prices are a great kick-off to the 2013 season and hope that our loyal fans will take advantage and come out to the ballpark often to allow us to show them a great time," concluded Stephenson.  "We continue to make improvements to the quality of entertainment and guest experience at the ballpark and we can't wait to start the 2013 season and begin welcoming our fans to the ballpark."
