SALEM, VA – The Fredericksburg Nationals outlasted the Salem Red Sox in a 10-inning marathon on Thursday night. The Nationals (10-23) rallied in the top of the 10th to give them the 7-4 victory over the Red Sox (17-16).

The Red Sox struck first blood in the bottom of the first inning when Jaxx Groshans reached on an error scoring Matthew Lugo. The Sox would extend their lead in the bottom of the third after Joe Davis smacked an RBI single to left field.

The Nats would come back and take the lead with yet another explosive inning. In the bottom of the fourth Fredericksburg put up four runs spearheaded by back-to-back doubles by Telmito Augustin and Cole Daily. Allan Berrios followed with an RBI single to center field and Jake Randa drilled a two RBI double to right field to make it a 4-2 game.

The Red Sox charged right back in the bottom of the sixth inning when Nick Northcut drove an RBI double to left and Dean Miller knotted things up with a double to center field to make 4-4.

That would take the contest to extras where the Fredericksburg Nationals put three runs up in the top of the 10th with a couple of unconventional ways to scratch them across. Cole Daily reached on a fielder’s choice scoring Viandel Pena. After a wild pitch from Devon Roedahl that scored another, Ricardo Mendez skied a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Cole Daily.
