FREDERICK, Maryland (April 18, 2019) - Salem and Frederick battle it out in a pitchers duel on Thursday night, Bryan Mata racking up six strikeouts in his start, but the Keys would walk it off on a wild pitch to end the night with a 2-1 win.
How it Happened
* Mata dealt 5 2/3 scoreless innings on the mound for Salem allowing only three hits and striking out six, while lowering his ERA to 0.54 on the season.
* The southpaw for the Keys, Cameron Bishop, would answer back with 6.0 innings on the bump allowing five hits, one run (earned), and fanning eight.
* After a leadoff single by shortstop Ryan Fitzgerald in the seventh, first baseman Pedro Castellanos would follow up with a double to the left field corner to knock in the first run of the game and for the Sox.
* The Keys would answer back in the seventh after left fielder Kirvin Moesquit would lead off the inning getting hit by a pitch. Moesquit would later advance to second on a stolen base and then move over to third on a balk by relief pitcher Eduard Bazardo. Moesquit would later score on ann error by the Sox second baseman.
* The game would go into the ninth with an even score of 1-1, before the Keys would get two runners on base to start off the bottom of the ninth. The eventual game winning run was scored on a wild pitch by Sox reliever Devon Fisher.
