SALEM, VA – The Salem Red Sox fell in game two of the series to the Lynchburg Hillcats 8-1. The Hillcats (8-0) dominate once again offensively and take down the Red Sox (3-5).

The offensive explosion began in the third inning when Alexfri Planez doubled to left field scoring Andres Melendez. Jhonkensy Noel stayed hot early and often tonight singling home Planez to give the Hillcats an early 2-0 lead.

In the bottom half of the third it seemed as if the Red Sox had some irons in the fire with the bases loaded and no one out. Nick Decker singled home Ceddanne Rafaela to cut the Hillcat lead in half, but all other Red Sox opportunities were squandered.

Lynchburg came out with hot bats in the fourth when Gabriel Rodriguez doubled home Micah Pries and Will Bartlett. Wild pitches by Ryan Zeferjahn and Jordan DiValerio scored Gabriel Rodriguez and Andres Melendez to make it 7-1.

The Hillcats grabbed some extra insurance with an RBI single from Johnathan Rodriguez in the eighth to make the final score 8-1. The two squads are back in action tomorrow at 7:05 PM for game three of a six game series.
