Bees Fall in Series Finale to Rainiers

SALT LAKE CITY (June 24, 2018) - The Salt Lake Bees dropped the final game of a four-game series against the Tacoma Rainiers 5-4 Sunday afternoon at Smith's Ballpark. The Bees and Rainiers split the four-game weekend series.

SALT LAKE CITY (June 24, 2018- The Salt Lake Bees dropped the final game of a four-game series against the Tacoma Rainiers 5-4 Sunday afternoon at Smith's Ballpark. The Bees and Rainiers split the four-game weekend series.

Taylor Ward got the Bees started on the right foot with a two-run homer in the first, but the Rainiers would respond by scoring one in the second and then three in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead. Salt Lake tied it up again with a two-RBI double by Kaleb Cowart in the fifth, but the Rainiers would take the lead again in the sixth. That proved to be the difference as the Bees were able to get the tying run to third in the eighth and ninth inning but could not cash in.  
Jose Suarez took the mound to start the game for Salt Lake. He lasted four innings, giving up nine hits and four earned runs while striking out three. Jeremy Rhoades (2-2), who came on in relief, took the loss after giving up the decisive run in the sixth. Eduardo Paredes and Jake Jewell combined for the final three and two-thirds innings without giving up a run to keep the Bees within striking distance.
 
The Bees will embark on a trip to Nevada to play four games against the Reno Aces followed by five with the Las Vegas 51s. Salt Lake will return home to face the El Paso Chihuahuas on July 4th. Tickets are available at slbees.com.
