Bees Top Rainiers on Utah Jazz Night

SALT LAKE CITY (June 23, 2018) - The Salt Lake Bees, dressed in Utah Jazz-themed uniforms for Utah Jazz Night at Smith's Ballpark, defeated the Tacoma Rainiers 4-1 Saturday night in front of 10,760 fans at Smith's Ballpark.  

SALT LAKE CITY (June 23, 2018) - The Salt Lake Bees, dressed in Utah Jazz-themed uniforms for Utah Jazz Night at Smith's Ballpark, defeated the Tacoma Rainiers 4-1 Saturday night in front of 10,760 fans at Smith's Ballpark.  

Trailing 1-0 after three innings, the Bees tied it up in the fourth on a double by Nolan Fontana to score Rymer Liriano. Liriano put the Bees up in the next inning on a single to bring Taylor Ward home. Eric Young Jr. scored in the sixth on a single by Michael Barash, which was Barash's first hit and RBI in his Triple-A debut. Kaleb Cowart added insurance in later in the inning, scoring Dustin Ackley on a sacrifice fly. Liriano finished with three hits to lead Bees batters.
 
A night after Tacoma scored 17 runs Bees pitchers held them to just a single run on nine hits. Ivan Pineyro got the start on the hill for the Bees and lasted four innings allowing the only run of the game. Greg Mahle (2-1) allowed a single hit over two innings to pick up the win. Mahle was backed by Miguel Almonte, Oliver Drake and Taylor Cole who combined for the final three innings of scoreless ball. Cole earned his fifth save of the year.
 
The Bees and Rainiers will close out the four-game set Sunday at 1:05 p.m. before the Bees leave for an eight-game Nevada road trip starting on Monday. Tickets for the homestand finale are available atwww.slbees.com.
