January 28, 2019

The Los Angeles Angels announced their non-roster invitees to Spring Training with nine former Salt Lake Bees joining Angels camp.

The Los Angeles Angels announced their non-roster invitees to Spring Training with nine former Salt Lake Bees joining Angels camp.

The former Bees invited include pitchers Miguel Almonte, Griffin Canning, Alex Meyer and Jeremy Rhoades; catcher Julian Leon; infielder Matt Thaiss; outfielders Peter Bourjos and César Puello and two-way player Jared Walsh.

The non-roster invitees will join the 22 former Bees on the Angels 40-man roster including 14 players who suited up for Salt Lake last year. Overall 61 players have been invited to Angels camp to fight for a MLB Opening Day roster spot. The majority of players who do not claim that spot will start the season in Salt Lake or could join the team at some point during the season.
Another local tie to be invited to Angels Spring Training is former Bingham High School and BYU standout Brennon Lund. The outfielder spent last year at Double-A Mobile and could be in line to come back to Salt Lake during the 2019 season.

Angels pitchers and catchers report to Tempe on Feb. 12. For more info on non-roster invitees click here.
