The Salt Lake Bees saw their four-game winning streak snapped on Thursday night as the Round Rock Express picked up a 4-2 win at Smith’s Ballpark.

Dillon Peters took the loss for the Salt Lake pitching staff despite recording his best outing of the season. Peters logged six innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out six. Zac Ryan, AJ Ramos and James Hoyt finished the game for the Salt Lake bullpen allowing a single unearned run.

The Salt Lake offense mounted a comeback in the sixth innings scoring on a Luis Rengifo RBI double and a Matt Thaiss RBI single. The Bees got the tying run on base in the ninth but could not cash in as they left nine men on base and finished 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position. Former Riverton High School and Salt Lake Community College pitcher Joe Barlow picked up his fourth save of the season for the Express.

The Bees and Express will meet again on Friday night for game two of the series. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. and the first 1,500 fans at the home plate gates will receive a ‘purple mountain’ SL hat presented by Zions Bank.
