The Salt Lake Bees secured their fourth series victory of the season Sunday afternoon with a 8-1 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes to take four out of six games in the series. The Bees improve to 23-19 with the win and are four games over .500 for the fourth time this season. They are now in sole possession of first place in the PCL West with a half-game lead over Las Vegas.

Michael Stefanic went 3-for-5 with a run scored and Jake Gatewood went 2-for-4 with a run scored. David MacKinnon went 2-for-3 and hit his fourth home run in his last five games. The first baseman now has nine home runs on the season and six in the month of May.

Davis Daniel picked up his first win of the season on the mound, going six innings and allowing just one run on five hits with six strikeouts. The bullpen trio of Gerardo Reyes, Andrew Wantz, and Ty Buttrey pitched three scoreless innings and allowed just one hit.

Sunday’s contest was a scoreless affair until the fifth inning when Albuquerque got on the board with their only run of the game. Jo Adell tied the game in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI single that scored Monte Harrison from second.

MacKinnon hit the go-ahead home run in the sixth inning to make it 3-1 in favor of the home team. The Bees then broke things wide open in the seventh, putting up five runs, highlighted by a Juan Lagares two-run double.

The bullpen closed the door the rest of the way and the Bees came away with the 8-1 win. Salt Lake will be in Sacramento next week for a six-game series against the River Cats starting on Tuesday night.
