SPRINGFIELD-A third strike wild pitch in the ninth inning helped the Missions rally to beat the Cardinals 8-3 Wednesday night at Hammons Field.
Trailing 2-1 and down to their final out, the Missions came back to score seven runs in the final inning.
Josh Naylor struck out but reached base when Seth Elledge's pitch sailed to the backstop. By the time the dust settled, San Antonio led by six runs.
Springfield plated a run off Jason Jester in the bottom of the ninth.
The Missions left the bases loaded in three different innings until erupting at the end.
Hudson Potts' fifth inning homerun was the club's only tally thru the first eight innings. Potts connected for his first Double-A homerun in the series opener.
Andres Munoz tossed a scoreless eighth to pick up the win.
By winning the first two games of the series, the Missions have captured consecutive road contests for the first time in their last 21 road games.
San Antonio moved back to the .500 mark in the 2nd half at 25-25.
