SAN ANTONIO – Another terrific pitching performance and another timely home run paved the way for a 3-0 Missions victory Saturday night. They have now won three games in a row following their nine-game losing skid.

There were plenty of zeroes on the board between the Missions and the Hooks after both teams went scoreless through four innings. Both teams had combined for six hits heading into the fifth inning. The Hooks had four hits while the Missions had two.

Like Friday night’s game, the Missions used the long ball to their advantage. After a single from Yorman Rodriguez, Michael Curry launched his second home run of the season. It was his second consecutive game with a homer. Hooks manager Gregorio Petit believed it was a foul ball and pleaded his case, but the call remained.

Osvaldo Hernandez was the starting pitcher for the Missions. He put together one of his best outings of the year so far. The left-hander tossed six shutout innings while allowing four hits and striking out four batters. This is his second scoreless outing of the season.

San Antonio added to their lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, Yorman Rodriguez hit a single to center field. He advanced to third base after a throwing error on a pickoff attempt. Rodriguez scored on an RBI bunt single from Olivier Basabe. The Missions had a 3-0 advantage.

With his seventh inning single, Yorman Rodriguez had his second three-hit game of the season and his first three-hit game since joining the Missions.

James Reeves took over for Hernandez prior to the seventh inning. The tall left-hander pitched two perfect innings while striking out five batters. Nick Kuzia came on in the ninth and converted his second save of the year.
