SAN ANTONIO – After leading 3-0 after four innings of play, the Flying Chanclas de San Antonio collapsed in the second half of the game and lost 10-3 Thursday night. This the team’s second consecutive loss following their five-game winning streak.

Things looked promising for San Antonio in the first third of the game. Kyle Overstreet singled in a run in the bottom of the first inning to give the Chanclas an early lead.

In the fourth inning, Juan Fernandez connected on a two-run home run to increase their lead to 3-0. It was his third long ball of the year.

Things began falling apart for the Flying Chanclas in the next inning. Northwest Arkansas put together a three-run fifth inning to tie the game. With two runners on base, Rudy Martin crushed a three-run home run off Osvaldo Hernandez.

The Naturals added seven more runs throughout the second half of the game. Bobby Witt, Jr. drove in two runs in the seventh inning on a single to center field. In the eighth inning, Travis Jones hit an RBI triple. Brhet Bewley drove in a run on a sacrifice fly during the same inning.

In the ninth inning, Northwest Arkansas added three more runs off reliever Jose Quezada. A fielder’s choice, a wild pitch, and a single plated the three runs to give the Naturals a 10-3 lead.

Osvaldo Hernandez was the starting pitcher for the Flying Chanclas. All three runs that scored off him in the fifth inning were unearned due to a fielding error from Allen Cordoba. The left-hander struck out seven batters during 5.1 innings pitched.
