SAN ANTONIO – In their first meeting with Midland since 2018, the Missions fell behind early and eventually lost 6-1. The Missions were able to get ten hits, but only scored one run. This ends their three-game winning streak.

The RockHounds were in attack mode early as they scored in the first inning off Adrian Martinez. Nick Allen reached base on a single before Tyler Ramirez drove him in with an RBI double. This gave Midland a 1-0 lead.

Midland added to their lead the very next inning. Jhonny Santos lead off the inning with a double. He scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Allen to give them a 2-0 advantage.

The Missions cut the lead in half in the top of the fourth inning. Leading off the inning, Kyle Overstreet launched his first home run of the season. This made it a 2-1 game. It was his first home run in a Missions uniform since August 29, 2018 on the road against Midland as well.

The RockHounds added two more runs in the sixth inning off Missions’ reliever Sam Williams. It was a single and double to start off the inning. Williams battled back by getting the next two batters out. But Jonah Bride drove in both runners on a single to center field, making it a 4-1 ballgame.

Midland added two insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Facing Henry Henry, the RockHounds scored on an RBI double from Chase Calabuig followed by an RBI single from Allen. This gave them a 6-1 lead.

Martinez records the loss after allowing two earned runs in four innings. Brady Feigl collects his first win of the season for Midland.

The Missions and RockHounds will continue their six-game series Wednesday night at Momentum Bank Ballpark. Right-hander Caleb Boushley (0-1, 11.25) will start for San Antonio against the left-hander Jared Koenig (0-0, 3.00). First will be at 6:30 p.m.
