June 29, 2012
SAN JOSE, CALIF- The San Jose Giants are proud to announce the San Jose Community 4th of July Celebration at Municipal Stadium and surrounding South Campus immediately following the conclusion of their 6:30 PM game. Comcast is the principal sponsor for the annual fireworks show and United Site Services is providing the necessary support facilities which will allow the local community to watch the show for free. San Jose State University has led the effort to make space available for the community along with Happy Hollow Park & Zoo, History San Jose and Kelley Park to open the entire South Campus area for local citizens to watch the fireworks. The game will be broadcast live on Comcast Hometown Network Channel 104 along with the postgame fireworks show.

"Comcast is proud to sponsor the San Jose Community 4th of July Celebration while joining the City of San Jose and our long-time partner the San Jose Giants to again help the Bay Area's largest city celebrate Independence Day," said Andrew Johnson, Comcast Regional Vice President, Communications. "At Comcast, we strive to make an impact in our community and our sponsorship of the July 4th celebration is just the latest example of that goal."

"Without the support from Comcast, SJSU, United Site Services and the City of San Jose this event would not have been possible," said Daniel Orum, San Jose Giants President and CEO. "The San Jose Community 4th of July Celebration at Municipal Stadium has become a staple for this city and we are happy to once again be a part of it."

The community is invited to watch the fireworks absolutely free on the San Jose State University Soccer Field next to Spartan Stadium or at Kelley Park. All viewing areas will open at 5:00 PM. Due to the family nature of this event and State laws which regulate the viewing areas, tailgating will be restricted from parking lots and no alcohol allowed. The community is encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to watch the fireworks from the Soccer Field or Kelley Park. Please keep in mind that no viewing will be permitted on the streets and no coolers are allowed on University property.

"I'd like to thank our many partners in the community for putting on this fun, family-friendly event where people of all ages can come together to celebrate our independence," said Mayor Chuck Reed.

Parking will be available for the Giants game beginning at 3:00 PM for $10 per car in the Municipal Stadium Parking Lot and Bud Winter Field. Parking for the Fireworks viewing will be available starting at 3:00 PM for $10 per car at the SJSU East Field and 7th Street Lot and Happy Hollow Park & Zoo/Kelley Park. History Park will allow parking for History San Jose members only. For more information on the event, please visit the San Jose Giants website at sjgiants.com.
