Reading for a Home Run

South Bend, Indiana (February 25, 2014)-   Your South Bend Silver Hawks reading program, Swoop's Reading Club, will be in full swing Monday, March 3rd . The program is an incentive based reading program where teachers set the goals to match the reading level of their students. Students are rewarded with prizes from your Silver Hawks and local businesses each time they complete a goal.

After the students complete this four week program they receive a complimentary ticket to a Silver Hawks home game and free admittance to the St. Joseph County 4H Fair. The Silver Hawks 2014 Reading Club community partners include NIPSCO, Indiana 811, Buffalo Wild Wings, Mutual Bank, and Burger King. Each partner has generously provided the prizes for this year's program.

The 2014 Reading Club has 82 local schools enrolled with over 18,000 students participating, up from 14,000 in 2013. The program is free for schools and all materials are provided to the teachers. Schools may choose to sign up the entire school or teachers may do individual classes. The South Bend Silver Hawks are a Class A minor league team affiliated with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The team is owned and operated by Swing-Batter-Swing, LLC whose sole shareholder is Andrew T. Berlin of Chicago, IL. Opening Day is Tuesday, April 8, 2014.
