MOOSIC, PA (June 28, 2022) –The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders hung on to defeat the Buffalo Bisons 5-4 on Tuesday. Miguel Andújar sent a three-run homer in the fifth to lead the charge for SWB.

The Bisons jumped on RailRiders starter Jhony Brito for a pair of runs in their half of the second inning. The Bisons had loaded the bases with no outs, scoring on a hit batter and a fielder’s choice. Trailing 2-0, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre attacked with two outs. Estevan Florial launched a solo homer to right. Tim Locastro singled and was followed by an Oswald Peraza walk. Andújar then launched a three-run home run to give SWB a 4-2 lead.

Aroldis Chapman made his third rehab appearance, his first career outing in a Scranton/Wilkes-Barre uniform. Chapman retired the side in the sixth with a 1-2-3 frame including a pair of strikeouts. His elite fastball reached 99 MPH in a thirteen-pitch inning.

The Bisons trimmed the RailRiders lead to 4-3 thanks to an Otto Lopez RBI double in the top of the seventh. SWB got it right back due to a Greg Bird RBI single in their half of the inning. One more came across for Buffalo but Greg Weissert completed a four-out save, his team-leading seventh of the season. Brito (2-1) was given the victory with Casey Lawrence (8-2) being dealt the loss. For the first time since the RailRiders were 4-3 on the season, they have a winning record in a month with a 13-12 record in June.

The teams continue their six-game series on Wednesday night. Wednesday is Waggin’ Wednesday and $1 Hot Dog Night at PNC Field.
