MOOSIC, Pa. (June 8, 2019) - Led by two home runs from Logan Morrison and a stellar start by Brody Koerner, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders defeated the Syracuse Mets 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at PNC Field.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre received a terrific start from Brody Koerner, who supplied the team with its fifth straight quality start. The right-hander allowed an RBI double to Travis Taijeron in the top of the second but did not allow another run in his seven innings of work.

Twice generating inning-ending double plays and striking out a season-high seven, Koerner (3-0) scattered six hits while recording his third quality start of the season for SWB. He completed his outing by retiring the final seven Mets batters he faced.

Logan Morrison got the RailRiders on the board with a leadoff solo home run in the bottom of the third against Walker Lockett (0-1) to tie the game at 1-1. Trey Amburgey followed the long ball with a double to left but was thrown out trying to score on a groundball later in the inning.

In the bottom of the seventh Ryan McBroom dropped a one-out single to right which was lost in the sun by Arismendy Alcantara. Morrison stepped to the plate and immediately made Syracuse pay as he crushed his second home run of the game against Lockett, a 400-plus-foot drive onto the grass berm in right-center to put the RailRiders ahead 3-1.

Danny Coulombe worked around a one-out bunt single to strike out the side in the top of the eighth, and J.P. Feyereisen closed the door with a scoreless top of the ninth for his third save of the season. The game took only two hours and 11 minutes to complete, the fastest nine-inning game of the season for SWB.

The RailRiders complete their series with the Mets on Sunday afternoon at PNC Field with a doubleheader. First pitch in game one is scheduled for 12:05 p.m. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre sends LHP Daniel Camarena (0-2, 5.72) to the mound in the opener, while Syracuse counters with RHP Chris Mazza (1-2, 3.00). In the second game RHP Raynel Espinal (2-4, 5.40) toes the rubber for the RailRiders while the Mets answer with RHP Casey Coleman (1-6, 5.24).

Sunday marks the first of six Copa de la Diversión games of the 2019 season, as the RailRiders will suit up as the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Vejigantes. For tickets and more information, call (570) 969-BALL or slide to www.swbrailriders.com/tickets.
