Moss, Tosca to return to Portland for 25th Season Celebration

Portland, Maine - Portland Sea Dogs Hall of Famers Brandon Moss and Carlos Tosca are scheduled to return to Portland on Wednesday, April 18th when the Sea Dogs host the Hartford Yard Goats at 6:00 PM at Hadlock Field to celebrate the Sea Dogs 25th season. The April 18th date marks the anniversary of the first Sea Dogs game played at Hadlock Field.

Brandon Moss and Carlos Tosca will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Moss will also be available to sign free autographs for fans. As part of the Sea Dogs 25th season celebration festivities, the Sea Dogs will also be announcing the Portland Sea Dogs All-Time Team and Opponents Team, presented by the Portland Press Herald. The Sea Dogs will also return to wearing their classic teal jerseys for the celebration.
Moss appeared in 268 career games for the Sea Dogs from 2005 through 2006, where he hit .277 with 28 home runs, 144 RBI, 67 doubles, 7 triples, 163 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases. Moss was integral in the Sea Dogs' run to the 2006 Eastern League Championship, hitting .361 with 5 home runs, 10 RBI, and 9 runs scored in 9 playoff games, capturing Eastern League Playoff MVP honors. Moss ranks in the top 10 of Sea Dogs all-time franchise record holders in career hits, runs scored, RBI, total bases, and doubles.
Moss had an 11-year Major League career with the Red Sox, Pirates, Athletics, Indians, Cardinals, and Royals. In 1016 big league games, he hit .237 with 160 home runs and 473 RBI. He was an American League All-Star in 2014 with Oakland. Moss was inducted into the Portland Sea Dogs Hall of Fame in 2016.
Carlos Tosca was the first manager in Portland Sea Dogs history, managing the club from 1994 through 1996. He compiled a 229-195 (.540) record and led the Sea Dogs to playoff appearances in 1995 and 1996. Tosca went on to manage the Toronto Blue Jays from 2002 to 2004 where he was 191-193 as a big-league manager. Tosca has also served as a big-league coach for 16 years with the Diamondbacks (1998-2000, 2005-2006), Blue Jays (2002), Marlins (2007-2010), and Braves (2011-2016). He is currently working in the Orioles organization. Tosca was inducted into the Portland Sea Dogs Hall of Fame in 2005.
