Trenton scores five in the third, beats 'Dogs 6-0

Trenton, N.J. - The Trenton Thunder (25-14) scored five times in the third inning, and defeated the Portland Sea Dogs (18-18), 6-0, Friday night in the series opener at Arm & Hammer Park.

Trenton's Domingo Acevedo (W, 1-0) delivered in his Double-A debut, hurling 6.1 scoreless on four hits, two walks and five strikeouts.
 
Trey Ball (1-3) took the loss for Portland, surrendering five runs on four hits in the third. Jorge Saez (3-for-3, BB) knocked home the first run with a double and Gleyber Torres hit a grand slam. 
 
Miguel Andújar added the final run, leading off the eighth inning with a solo-homer off Williams Jerez.
Deiner Lopez led Portland's offense, who had just five hits. Lopez went 2-for-4. Tzu-Lin, Nick Longhi and Danny Mars each singled. Lin extended his on-base streak to 20 games.
Portland's Taylor Grover worked 2.2 scoreless on one hit in relief of Ball. Grover fanned three and did not allow a walk.
 
The Sea Dogs and Trenton Thunder play the middle game of their series on Saturday night, first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM. RHP Kevin McAvoy (1-2, 3.41) makes his seventh start of the season for Portland. RHP Brady Lail (1-0, 1.59) makes his second start for Trenton.
