The SeaWolves shut out the Hartford Yard Goats in game one of Sunday's doubleheader at Dunkin' Donuts Park 2-0.
Both of Erie's runs came in the second against starter Konner Wade. Christin Stewart led off and teed off with a solo home run to right-center. It was his league-leading 10th long ball, giving Erie a 1-0 lead. With two outs and Logan Watkins on first, Grayson Greiner singled to move him into scoring position for A.J. Simcox. Simcox doubled off the wall in right, scoring Watkins for a 2-0 lead.
The two runs would be all Erie needed as Tyler Alexander, Jairo Labourt and Sean Donatello combined on a shutout. It was the 'Wolves first shutout of 2017.
Alexander (2-1) went five innings allowing five hits with two walks while equaling a season-high with five strikeouts.
Donatello earned his third save working a 1-2-3 seventh.
