Moya's Blasts Caps Erie Comeback Win

The SeaWolves were down to their final four outs on Tuesday night at UPMC Park as Steven Moya blasted a go-ahead eighth inning home run, capping a 4-3 comeback win over the Bowie Baysox.
Erie grabbed a first inning lead against Bowie starter Jesus Liranzo. Harold Castro walked with one out and stole second. With two outs, Christin Stewart doubled to the alley in right, scoring Castro for a 1-0 lead.
Bowie tied the game in the third against Erie starter Matt Crouse. Erick Salcedo led off with a single and moved into scoring position on a Cedric Mullins base hit. With two outs, D.J. Stewart reached on an error, plating Salcedo, tying the game 1-1.
The Baysox would take their first lead of the night in the top of the fourth. Ryan Mountcastle led off with a double and moved to third on an Audry Pérez fly out to center. Mountcastle scored on an Adrian Marin sacrifice fly to make it 2-1.
The SeaWolves tied the game in the last of the fifth against reliever Brandon Barker. Wade Hinkle led off with a walk and moved to second on an A.J. Simcox base hit. Logan Watkins laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners into scoring position. Castro lifted a sacrifice fly to center, plating Hinkle, tying the game 2-2.
Bowie once again regained the lead in the sixth. Perez and Marin led off with back-to-back singles. Salcedo hit into a fielder's choice, moving Perez to third. Perez scored on a Mullins sacrifice fly to center, giving the Baysox a 3-2 advantage.
The Baysox maintained the lead until the last of the eighth. Castro led off with a base hit. He moved to second on a Dawel Lugo groundout and to third on a Stewart fly out. With two down, Steven Moya blasted a go-ahead, two-run home run for a 4-3 Erie lead. The home run for Moya was his eighth since joining Erie from Toledo. He also now has 26 RBI in 22 games.
Bryan Garica came on in the ninth for the SeaWolves and tossed a scoreless frame, earning his sixth save in as many chances.
The Erie bullpen was rock solid again on Tuesday. Zach Reininger, Paul Voelker and Garcia combined to toss 3.1 scoreless in relief of Crouse. Voelker (1-2) earned the win firing the eighth inning. Erie's pen has thrown 6.2 scoreless in the series.
Barker (6-4) took the loss for the Baysox allowing three runs on six hits in five innings of work.
Crouse got the no-decision. He allowed three runs, two earned, on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 5.2 innings.
Erie will look for the series win on Wednesday afternoon against the Baysox at 12:05 p.m. at UPMC Park. Righty Artie Lewicki (8-3, 3.71 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Lucas Long (6-3, 2.17 ERA).
