SeaWolves Sweep Twin Bill From Baysox

The SeaWolves finished the regular season with a bang as they swept a doubleheader over the Bowie Baysox on Monday afternoon with identical 6-3 wins in both games.

The SeaWolves jumped ahead in the bottom of the first inning of game one when Brandon Douglas belted an opposite-field home run off of Tyler Wilson for a 1-0 lead.

The Baysox immediately responded in the second inning as Brandon Waring led off with a solo blast to left off of Erie starter Ramon Garcia tying the game.

Erie regained the lead in the third. James Robbins and Jamie Johnson each singled to start the inning and advanced to second and third a passed ball. A Douglas sacrifice fly to left scored Robbins for a 2-1 lead.

Wade Gaynor added to the Erie lead in the fourth when he belted a solo home run for his 13th of the season.

The 'Wolves continued to add to the lead in the fifth. Johnson singled and moved to second with two outs on a wild pitch. Ramon Cabrera singled off the wall in right, scoring Johnson for a 4-1 lead. Tyler Collins took flight with a two-run home run to right making ti 6-1.

Bowie would trim their deficit in the sixth inning as Niuman Romero got aboard with leadoff single and advanced to second on a fly out. Romero scored on a Waring single making it 6-2.

Erie turned it over to Melvin Mercedes in the seventh who gave up a leadoff home run to Luis Martinez before retiring the side to close out the game.

Garica (2-4) earned the win allowing two runs on seven hits with a walk and three strikeouts in six innings of work.

GAME TWO

Bowie jumped ahead in the second game in the top of the first inning against Erie starter Tommy Collier who was making his Double-A debut. Niuman Romero doubled with one out and scored on a Josh Horton two-run homer making it 2-0.

Erie immediately responded in the bottom half of the first as Eugenio Suarez doubled with one out and came in to score on Daniel Fields single making it 2-1.

The 'Wolves took control in the second. Wade Gaynor led off with a walk and moved to third on a one-out Luis Castillo double. James Robbins singled home Gaynor, tying the game. Jamie Johnson lifted a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Castillo for a 3-2 lead. Erie loaded the bases and added a fourth run on an infield single off the bat of Tyler Collins.

Bowie cut the Erie lead in half in the third. With two outs, Josh Horton walked and moved to second on a Caleb Joseph single. Seth Loman singled home Horton making it 4-3.

The SeaWolves came right back in the bottom half of the third added to the lead. Marcus Lemon singled with one out and moved to second on a passed ball. Castillo doubled home Lemon for a 5-3 lead. Castillo scored on a Robbins double making it 6-3.

Collier (1-0) allowed three runs on six hits with a walk and two strikeouts in five innings earning the win.
