SeaWolves Walk Eight Times in Trenton

The SeaWolves dropped their third straight as they fell to the Trenton Thunder, 5-3, on Friday night at Arm & Hammer Park.

Trenton grabbed a lead in the bottom of the first inning against Erie starter Kyle Ryan. Mason Williams led off with a single and Tyler Austin singled with one out putting two on for Gary Sanchez. Sanchez singled home Williams for a 1-0 lead. With two outs, Rob Refsnyder singled home Austin and Dan Fiorito doubled home Sanchez for a 3-0 Trenton edge.

The Thunder extended the lead in the fourth. Refsnyder led off with a single and was doubled home by Fiorito for a 4-0 lead. With two down, Williams singled home Fiorito making it 5-0.

The SeaWolves got on the board in the fifth against Trenton starter Matt Tracy. Wade Gaynor led off with a walk and advanced to second on a Steven Moya groundout. Francisco Martinez grounded to short and on an error by Ali Castillo, reached first safely putting runners on the corners for Craig Albernaz. With Albernaz batting, a wild pitch plated Gaynor making it 5-1. Albernaz eventually walked putting a pair n for Jason Krizan. Krizan singled to left with Erie's first hit of the game, plating Martinez, making it a three-run game at 5-2.

Erie added a run in the eighth against reliever Taylor Garrison. Eugenio Suarez led off with walk but was erased at second on a fielder's choice off the bat of Aaron Westlake. Suarez finished 0-3, snapping his 11-game hitting streak. With two outs, Gaynor singled to left putting two on for Moya. With Moya batting, a wild pitch allowed Westlake to score from second making it 5-3. The SeaWolves would get no closer.

Ryan (1-2) took the loss allowing five runs on 11 hits with no walks and five strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.
