Westlake Sends Erie to a Soggy Win

The SeaWolves took down the Bowie Baysox in a rain-shortened game on Monday night at Jerry Uht Park 4-3.

Bowie struck in the top of the first inning against Erie starter Jeff Ferrell. Niuman Romero and Buck Britton each singled. Christan Walker tripled home a pair for a 2-0 Bowie lead. Dariel Alvarez singled home Walker for a 3-0 lead.

In the last of the second, Erie cut into the Bowie lead when Wade Gaynor blasted an opposite-field solo home run making it a 3-1 game.

Erie took the lead in the third inning. Brandon Loy singled with one out for his first Double-A hit. With two outs, Jason Krizan walked and Eugenio Suarez extended his hitting streak to nine straight reaching on an infield single. Aaron Westlake cleared the bases with a three-run double, giving Erie a 4-3 lead.

The 'Wolves held the lead into the seventh and rainfall haulted the game and eventually led to the game ending due to weather.

Erie pitcher Jeff Ferrell (1-1) earned the win, allowing three runs on four this with a walk and a strikeout in five innings of work.

Chad Smith earned the save tossing the final 1.1 innings allowing a hit with a walk and a strikeout.
