Goodwin Homers But Sens Drop Series Finale 4-1

April 21, 2013

Harrisburg, PA - Brian Goodwin hit his first home run of the season, but the Harrisburg Senators dropped the series finale to the Altoona Curve 4-1, in front of 3,352 fans at Metro Bank Park on Sunday afternoon. The two teams split the four-game series.

Harrisburg's Blake Treinen and Altoona's Casey Sadler locked horns in an entertaining pitchers' duel. The game was scoreless until the fourth, when Matt Curry put the Curve on the board with a two-out solo home run. Altoona added an unearned run in the sixth to make it 2-0.

Brian Goodwin led off the Sens sixth with a homer to right, cutting Altoona's lead in half. The Sens could not muster up anything else offensively, however, as the Curve added another pair of insurance runs in the eighth. Altoona took advantage of three Harrisburg errors on the afternoon.

Treinen suffered the hard luck loss, becoming the first Senators starter to pitch into the eighth inning this season. The right-hander went seven plus and was charged with three earned runs. He didn't walk a man (for the second consecutive start) and struck out eight.

Tomorrow, the Senators open up a three-game series with the Reading Fightin Phils at Metro Bank Park. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it's available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m.
