Head, Souza Go Deep in 7-1 Win

Harrisburg, PA - Jerad Head and Steven Souza, Jr. each homered, and the Harrisburg Senators cruised to a 7-1 victory over the Akron Aeros in the series opener at Metro Bank Park.

Head's long ball came in the first inning off Akron starter Brett Brach and opened the scoring. The Sens added three more in the third, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of Justin Bloxom.

Harrisburg put up another three spot in the seventh to break open the ballgame. Josh Johnson delivered an RBI single following a triple by Ricky Hague, and Souza launched a majestic two-run shot to left. The home runs for Souza and Head were the ninth of the season for each, which leads the club. Head, Bloxom, Hague, and Johnson all had two hits on the night.

Taylor Jordan tossed five innings and scattered eight hits, allowing just one run to improve to 7-0 on the season. Matt Grace and Neil Holland each pitched two shutout innings to close the ballgame.  

Tomorrow, the Senators continue their three-game series against the Akron Aeros at Metro Bank Park.
