Howell Goes Deep in 11-2 Loss to Akron

July 21, 2013

Harrisburg, PA - Jeff Howell hit a solo home run and the Senators went up early 2-0, but the Akron Aeros exploded for a seven-run seventh inning and took the series finale 11-2 at Metro Bank Park. After winning the series opener on Thursday 12-3, the Senators dropped the final three games to the Aeros.

Howell's homer, his fifth of the season, came with two out in the third. The Senators added another in the fourth after Steven Souza, Jr. led off with a double and later came around on an RBI fielder's choice by Justin Bloxom.

After scoring three runs, all coming with two out, in the fifth to take the lead, the Aeros broke open the game with the huge seventh inning. Carlos Moncrief's three-run homer capped the frame.

Brett Brach tossed seven innings to earn his sixth win, giving up just four hits and both Senators runs. He walked one and struck out seven.

Tomorrow, the Senators open a ten-game road trip with the first of three in New Hampshire against the Fisher Cats. Game time is 2:00 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it's available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 1:45 p.m.
