Souza Homers Again But Sens Fall 3-2 in 15

May 30, 2013

Akron, OH - Steven Souza, Jr. homered for the second straight night, but the Senators fell 3-2 in 15 innings to the Akron Aeros on Thursday at Canal Park.

Down 1-0 in the seventh, with two out and a man aboard, Souza unloaded on his fourth long ball of the season to put the Senators up 2-1.

Harrisburg held the lead until the ninth, when Aaron Barrett came on for the save. With one out, Jesus Aguilar hit a solo home run to tie the game and send it into extra innings. The blown save was just the second for Barrett this season.

Matt Swynenberg pitched five shutout innings in relief for the Senators, throwing 69 pitches, but Harrisburg couldn't push anything across.

In the 15th inning with the bases loaded and one out, Carlos Moncrief came through with a single up the middle to win it for the Aeros.

On Friday, the Senators return home and open a three-game series against the Trenton Thunder at Metro Bank Park. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it's available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m.
