Souza Homers But Sens Fall 6-2

July 4, 2013

Harrisburg, PA - Steven Souza, Jr. homered, but Wei-Yin Chen handcuffed the Senators over seven shutout innings to lead the Bowie Baysox to a 6-2 win in front of a season-high 7,288 fans at Metro Bank Park.

Chen, in his second start on a MLB rehab assignment, allowed just four hits, didn't walk a batter, and struck out three.

The Baysox jumped on Senators starter Blake Treinen for six runs in the first three innings. Trayvon Robinson led the attack, going two-for-five with two RBIs. Bowie pounded out 12 hits on the night.

Treinen settled down and retired nine of the final 11 hitters he faced in his six innings of work. Pat McCoy tossed an inning of shutout relief and Ryan Perry chipped in with a couple of shutout frames himself.

Souza's home run, a two-run shot, came in the ninth inning and was his team-leading 11th of the season.

Tomorrow, the Senators continue their seven-game series against the Bowie Baysox at Metro Bank Park with a doubleheader. Both games will be seven innings long and game two will start approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of game one. The first game begins at 5:30 p.m. and both games can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it's available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 5:15 p.m.
