Van Ostrand's Five RBI Night Leads Sens to 13-2 Win

May 7, 2013

Harrisburg, PA - Jimmy Van Ostrand pounded out four hits, including a home run, and drove in five to lead the Harrisburg Senators to a 13-2 win over the Altoona Curve at Metro Bank Park, evening the three-game series at one game apiece.

Following an Altoona error, the Senators scored a pair of unearned runs in the first inning on a Justin Bloxom sacrifice-fly and a Van Ostrand RBI single. The Curve cut the lead in half in the fourth on an Andrew Lambo solo home run off Senators starter Nathan Karns.

The Senators broke the game open with a four-run bottom half of the fourth inning, capped off by a two-run single off the bat of Van Ostrand. His two-run homer in the sixth, his first of the season, put an exclamation point on the night. The Senators added four more runs in the eighth to put the game completely out of reach.

Karns pitched five solid innings to earn his third win, giving up just two hits and one earned run. He also struck out eight. Anthony Rendon went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a walk, and two runs scored. Jose Lozada also had two hits, and he drove in two as well. Every Senators starter recorded at least one base hit, as the Senators set new season-highs in runs and hits (16). Bill Bray pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen in his season debut.

Tomorrow morning, the Senators conclude their three-game series with the Altoona Curve at Metro Bank Park. Game time is 10:30 a.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it's available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 10:15 a.m.
