Shorebirds Announce Opening Night Plans

Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds, class "A" affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are excited to announce full plans for opening night, Thursday, April 4 at 7:05pm against the Hagerstown Suns (Washington Nationals). Gates open for the general public at 6:00pm while season ticket holders can enter the stadium at 5:00pm.    

"We're ready to open the season in style and welcome our fans back to the stadium for the 2013 season," said Shorebirds general manager Chris Bitters.  "To cap the night, one lucky fan will walk away with a 42-inch flat screen Sanyo television courtesy of our friends at the Wal-Mart in Berlin and Pepsi!"

MAGNET SCHEDULE GIVEAWAY

The first 5,000 fans will receive the official 2013 Shorebirds magnet schedule presented by Azar Eye Institute.  The magnet features 2012 Shorebirds infielder Nicky Delmonico along with the Shorebirds 2013 schedule.

WELCOME HOME PRIZE GIVEAWAYS

All ticketed fans will have the opportunity to win great prizes throughout the night as part of a raffle.  During each inning, random tickets will be drawn and fans will win the prizes listed below.

Every Thursday home game is a Thirsty Thursday at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.  Enjoy 12 oz. Miller Lite and Coors Light draft beers for just $1.50.  Also, 12 oz. Pepsi products are just $1.50.  No coupons are necessary to take advantage of the deal.

NATIONAL ANTHEM

The national anthem on opening night will be performed Karen Bordeau. 

COLOR GUARD

The Somerset County Sheriff's Department will present the colors before the game.

HIGH HEAT BASEBALL CLUB

Players on the High Heat Baseball Club will be on the field with the Shorebirds players during the national anthem. 

CEREMONIAL FIRST PITCHES

Wicomico County Executive Rick Pollitt, 2012 Shorebirds Fan of the Year Ruby Liberty and Mark Filipov from Azar Eye Institute will throw out the ceremonial first pitches before the home opener.

PARKER BRIDWELL NAMED OPENING NIGHT STARTER

Shorebirds right-handed pitcher Parker Bridwell is the opening night starter.  Bridwell, 21, made 22 starts for the Shorebirds last season and went 5-9 with a 5.98 ERA.  He was selected in the ninth round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft.
