Shorebirds Release 2014 Schedule

Home opener on April 10; Team home on July 4

Salisbury, MD - The Delmarva Shorebirds, class "A" affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are excited to release the schedule for the 2014 season, which begins on April 3, 2014 on the road against the Asheville Tourists. The 19th season of Shorebirds professional baseball at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium opens on April 10 against the Greensboro Grasshoppers.

The Shorebirds will play 22 of their 70 home games on either Friday or Saturday night in 2014. 

The Shorebirds will play 70 home games in 2014 from April through September at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The Shorebirds will play 14 home games in April, 14 home games in May, 14 home games in June, 12 home games in July and 14 in August. The regular season will conclude with a home game on Monday, September 1. 

"The 2014 schedule has at least two weekends at home during each month, which is great for our fans," said Shorebirds general manager Chris Bitters. "We're excited to again be home on July 4, which has become a big tradition night for us."

The Shorebirds first homestand runs from April 10 through April 16 against Greensboro (Marlins) and Hagerstown (Nationals). The second homestand in April is against Savannah (Mets), April 21-23, and Charleston (Yankees), April 24-27. 

In May, the Shorebirds also have two long homestands. From May 7 through May 13, the Shorebirds will play Augusta (Giants) and Lakewood (Phillies). Then, the Shorebirds welcome Kannapolis (White Sox) and Hagerstown (Nationals) from May 22 through May 28.

The Shorebirds open June on the road before returning to Perdue Stadium from June 5 through June 11 against Lakewood (Phillies) and Hickory (Rangers). Following the all-star break, the Shorebirds start the second half at home from June 19 through June 26 against Lexington (Royals) and West Virginia (Pirates). 

The Shorebirds will begin the first homestand of July on July 4 against Lakewood (Phillies) and West Virginia (Pirates). The Shorebirds will have the biggest and brightest fireworks show of the season on July 4. The homestands continues through July 9. The Shorebirds also have a four-game home series against Hagerstown (Nationals) from July 18 through 21. 

At the end of July, the Shorebirds begin a homestand that goes from July 30 through August 5 against Lakewood (Phillies) and Greensboro (Marlins). The Shorebirds will play a three-game home series against Hagerstown (Nationals) from August 11 through August 13. They also have a three-game home series against Asheville (Rockies) from August 22-24.

For the first time since the 2011 season, the Shorebirds will close the regular season at home in 2014 from August 29 through September 1 against Hickory (Rangers).

The Shorebirds will make two road trips in 2014 that they did not make in 2013. They will play at Charleston from May 2 through May 5 and at Rome from July 23 through July 25. The Shorebirds have not been to Rome, Georgia since the 2011 season. 

The three most common opponents are Lakewood (27 games), Hagerstown (23 games) and Greensboro (16). The only team that the Shorebirds do not play in 2014 is the Greenville Drive (Red Sox).

The Shorebirds have four ticket packages currently on sale for the 2014 season. Full season tickets, half season tickets, 22-game plans and 12-game plans are available for purchase.
