Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds (10-5) scored five runs in the third inning to defeat the Greensboro Grasshoppers (8-7) 6-2 on Thursday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.  The Shorebirds are off to their best 15-game start since 2005 (11-4).  The Shorebirds have won a season long four straight games.  Creede Simpson paced the Shorebirds offense by going 3-for-3 with an RBI.

Greensboro scored in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.  Alfredo Lopez led off the game with a single to center.  He stole second and reached third on a groundout by Anthony Gomez.  Then, Yordy Cabrera hit a sacrifice fly to right field.

The Shorebirds exploded for five runs in the third inning.  Gregory Lorenzo led off with a single to right-center field.  He stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by catcher Tony Caldwell.  Lorenzo scored on a passed ball to tie the game at 1-1.  Two batters later, Tucker Nathans walked.  He stole second base and scored on a Christian Walker double down the left field line.  After a Wynston Sawyer walk, Creede Simpson hit an RBI single to center to stretch the lead to 4-1.  Greensboro center fielder Juancito Martinez overthrew third, allowing both Walker and Sawyer to score.  Torsten Boss followed with a deep double to the wall in right field to score Sawyer.

Shorebirds starter Matt Taylor went through six innings to earn his first win.  Taylor yielded just two hits and one earned run.

Greensboro trimmed the deficit to 5-2 in the fourth on a Matt Juengel sacrifice fly RBI to right field.

The Shorebirds added to the lead in the sixth inning on a single with the bases loaded by Adrian Marin.

Jose Nivar tossed three scoreless innings to earn his first save of the season.

The Shorebirds recorded 11 hits, a sixth straight game with at least ten hits.  Shorebirds pitching struck out nine batters and did not issue a walk.
