Brewers promote INF Jake Gatewood to Biloxi

PEARL, MS - The Milwaukee Brewers announced the following roster move on Monday: Infielder Jake Gatewood  has been promoted to Biloxi from Advanced-A Carolina. 
Gatewood, 21, joins the Shuckers after batting .269 with 36 doubles, 11 home runs, and 53 RBI in 111 games for the Advanced-A Carolina Mudcats. Gatewood was leading the Carolina League in games (110) and was third in hits (112), tied for second in runs (66), tied for first in doubles (36), 2nd in extra-base hits (48) and tied for eighth in home runs (1).

Rated as No. 18 prospect in Brewers system by MLB.com, Gatewood finished April with home runs in three consecutive games and was named the Brewers Minor League Player of the Month in April (.329/.433/.573).
The Visalia, CA native was selected 41st overall in the Competitive Balance round of the 2014 Draft by the Brewers. Gatewood was a Carolina League All-Star this season and Midwest League All-Star with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2016. The 6'5" power hitter won the Junior Home Run Derby as a high schooler during the 2013 All-Star Week at Citi Field in New York. He is a 2014 graduate of Clovis (CA) High School, and his father played seven seasons as a minor league catcher for the Dodgers, Twins and Cubs organizations.
Tuesday's move brings the current Shuckers roster back to league-max of 25.
