MOBILE, AL - Freddy Peralta struck out eight more batters in his final start of the season, but the Biloxi Shuckers were unable to win their third straight game in Mobile on Saturday in a 7-3 loss.
Peralta (L, 2-5) struggled early, allowing three runs in the first and another run in the second, but settled down to pitch hitless baseball over the final 4.1 innings of his 6.0-frame effort. The righty finishes the season with 169 strikeouts in 120.0 innings between Advanced-A Carolina and Double-A Biloxi.

Mobile patched together a dominant pitching performance from a few different arms, getting 3.0 hitless innings from Tyler Warmoth and nine additional outs from Jackson Zarubin (W, 1-0). The Shuckers didn't manage a hit until the sixth inning but pushed across an unearned run in the fourth with three walks, an error, and a wild pitch.
In the sixth, Johnny Davis was hit by a pitch and promptly stole second base for his league-leading 48th swipe of the season. Angel Ortega followed with a clean single to right off Zarubin to break up the combined no-hit bid.
Jake Gatewood  and Gabriel Noriega each hit solo home runs in the ninth inning, but three runs allowed in the bottom of the eighth by Quintin Torres-Costa gave the BayBears a comfortable margin of victory as they took their first game of the series.
The Shuckers continue their season-ending series at Mobile on Friday as Luis Ortiz  faces off against Jake Jewell. First pitch from Hank Aaron Stadium is at 5:05 pm, and live coverage begins at 4:45 pm on Cruisin' WGCM AM-1240/FM-100.9 and the Shuckers Radio Network. The game will also be available at biloxishuckers.com, MiLB.TV and TuneIn Radio.
