BILOXI, MS - At 11:57 pm on Thursday night, Dustin DeMuth smacked his second double of the night down the left to bring Clint Coulter home from first base and give the Biloxi Shuckers a 3-2 walk-off win over the Tennessee Smokies in 11 innings.
Playing their first baseball since Sunday, the Shuckers won their fourth in a row and ninth in their last ten tries. Biloxi remains one game back of the Mobile BayBears, in second place, in the Southern League South Division.

The series opener was tabbed as the MiLB Duel of the Day by MiLB.com and Corbin Burnes and Adbert Alzolay didn't disappoint. Burnes was solid once again, overcoming two early runs to complete 5.0 innings. The righty allowed the two runs, one earned, and struck out six over the course of his outing.
The Smokies coaxed a bases-loaded walk out of Burnes in the second to take a 1-0 lead, but Angel Ortega tied it up in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single to score Dustin DeMuth, who had doubled for the first Shuckers hit of the game.
In the third inning, two Shuckers errors led to an unearned run that gave the Smokies a 2-1 lead. Tennessee starter Adbert Alzolay would make the lead stick through five innings, allowing just three hits and striking out four to set himself up for the win.
The Shuckers would not go quietly, rallying off stingy reliever Daury Torrez to tie the game in the seventh. Clint Coulter doubled to start the inning, and Ortega came up with another run-scoring single past the drawn-in infield to give the Shuckers their second run.
Freddy Peralta was nearly perfect in long relief for Biloxi, at one point striking out six consecutive batters over three shutout innings. Peralta walked one and struck out six over three hitless innings. Matt Ramsey tossed a scoreless inning in the ninth and Josh Uhen (W, 4-2) posted two scoreless innings to earn the win.
The bottom of the 11th rally was started when Smokies reliever Jake Stinnett (L, 0-1) issued a one-out walk to Coulter. DeMuth followed with the game-winning double to end the game.
Jake Gatewood made his Double-A debut on Thursday night and went 0-for-4 with a walk. The 21-year-old did steal his first base for the Shuckers in the ninth.
The series opener and first meeting between the two clubs since May was delayed by two-hours, 13-minutes due to rain and got underway at 8:48 pm.
The Shuckers will try to make it five wins in a row on Friday night as Luis Ortiz faces off against Duane Underwood Jr..
