Six-game winning streak snapped by Lookouts

BILOXI, MS - The Biloxi Shuckers saw their six-game winning streak snapped Monday night with a 4-3 loss to the Chattanooga Lookouts. With the Shuckers falling on Monday and a Pensacola victory, the Shuckers are again locked in a first-place tie atop the Southern League South Division standings with 25 games remaining the first half.

The Lookouts jumped out to an early lead against Shuckers starter Aaron Wilkerson , who earlier in the day was named Southern League Pitcher of the Week. In the second, a leadoff triple from Ryan Strausborger came around to score the first run of the game, and a two-run home run in the third inning from Jonathan Rodriguez gave the Lookouts a 3-0 edge.
The Shuckers answered back in the bottom of the third inning when Art Charles notched the first of his two hits on the evening and scored on a Mauricio Dubón RBI single.
Lookouts starter Felix Jorge (W, 4-1) kept the Shuckers off-balance all night but ran out of gas in the seventh inning. With two on and two out, Clint Coulter tied the game 3-3 with an RBI single up the middle. It marked Coulter's second two-out, two-run game-tying single in the seventh inning in as many days.
In the eighth, Shuckers reliever Nick Ramirez (L, 2-1) allowed a leadoff single and three walks to give the Lookouts the lead back at 4-3. Mason Melotakis and John Curtiss (S, 7) combined to shutout Biloxi over the final two innings to secure the series finale.
The Shuckers have an off day Tuesday as they travel to Tennessee to take on the Smokies for a five-game series. Taylor Jungmann will get the start for the Shuckers in the series opener on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm CT, with the Beau Rivage Pregame Show starting at 5:45 pm on Cruisin' WGCM AM-1240/FM-100.9 and the Shuckers Radio Network. The Shuckers will return home for a five-game homestand with the Mobile BayBears, May 30-June 3.
